There are learning opportunities and activities that will help them grow personally and spiritually in an atmosphere that fosters a feeling of acceptance, love, care and purpose.
Tracy Barlow accepted the call to become our Children’s Minister in May 2007. Tracy and her husband, Greg, joined our church family on January 8, 2006.

We believe that children are God’s special gift to us all and that we are spiritually bound to care for them as Jesus would and help them draw close to our Heavenly Father. We focus on providing a safe and stimulating environment for our children. |
Tracy was born in the West End area, then grew up in Hoover and attended Pelham High School. Professionally, she’s been a bookkeeper over many years, often with companies that needed an excellent bookkeeper to “gets things in order.” She admits that the job of “domestic engineer” is her favorite one, but has also demonstrated a willingness to get back into the “real workforce” when the situation required, as it did late last fall. Husband, Greg, is the Head Mechanic for Dexter Forston Associates and keeps all the company’s vehicles up and going. Greg and Tracy have been married 13 years and have been blessed with two children, Michael and Jordan.
Once the Barlow’s joined Community they became an active part of the church family. Tracy became active in choir, helped Brother Dave with music preparation and filing and demonstrated a burning desire that her children know Christ. When both Michael and Jordan came to a saving knowledge, were baptized and joined the church family last year, Tracy’s penchant for helping them come to those decisions was obvious. Meanwhile, her passion for children and their opportunities to know Christ as well came to the forefront just as our church family’s search for a new Children’s Minister reached a critical point.
In addition to Michael and Jordan, Tracy has two "big boys," as she calls them: Alex and Shahn Washington, who are both college students. The whole crew lives south of the church on Highway 17. Shahn also works as an EMT and firefighter. He joined Community Baptist the same Sunday his mom became our Children's Minister.
